Left Behind: World at War--each movie gets better and better

The movie opens with outright devastion apparent. The Whitehouse is in shambles, there are explosions going off, and there is hinted chaos in the background. It's been nearly two years since Nikolai has been the dominant world force, and now he is outright taking over the world through the destruction of key cities worldwide.

The same characters from the previous two movies are back, with the exception of the pastor; however, his replacement brings a greater dimension to his role. The casting of Lou Gosset Jr as the president brought the series up a notch in credibility. This third installment of the series based on the phenomenally popular Left Behind series is the best one yet. There is more of everything: more action, greater character development, more interesting plot. The camera work alone makes the movie more interesting, as the film departs from the usual static set up to one of the almost artful.

The DVD special features are noteworthy. The behind the scenes are always informative, yet this time the characters talk about their personal faith, which brings more meaning to both the movie and the characters portrayed.

Granted, the movies are based on the Left Behind books. So purists don't complain about the lack of continuity, plot changes, characterization, etc.--instead, sit back and enjoy how the books complement the series. And those not familiar with the series, simply sit back and be both entertained and contemplate what could happen in the near future.
